Abstract:

Background: To evaluate the outcomes of using in vitro fertilization (IVF)/ intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI cycle) techniques in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism women and comparing them to women with tubal factor infertility. Materials and Methods: Data from 81 hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (HH) patients treated with IVF/ICSI in the period from early 2009 until the end of 2010 were analyzed and compared with treatment results from 89 patients with Tubal factor infertility. Moreover, data from hypogonadotropic hypogonadism patients were analyzed with respect to the age factor. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Despite a higher fertilization rate and higher number of grade A/B embryos transferred in the Tubal factor group, the implantation, pregnancy and live birth rates were found to be similar between the two groups (p=0.3, p=0.1, p=0.6, respectively). When HH patients were evaluated according to the age factor, no significant difference was found regarding outcome parameters (p=0.2). Conclusion: HH women that were treated with IVF/ICSI cycles were found to have a good chance for pregnancy, even in coexistence with age factor.

I-3: Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism

Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (HH) is an uncommon cause of male infertility and a congenital or secondary disorder characterized by delayed or absent sexual maturation. Congenital abnormalities leading to HH are usually the consequence of deficient GnRH secretion occurring either in isolation (idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (IHH)), or in association with anosmia (Kallmann syndrome; KS...

P-166: Obstetric and Neonatal Outcomes of Twin Pregnancies Conceived by Assisted Reproductive Techniques Compared with Natural Conceived Twins: A Prospective Follow-Up Study

Background: Comparison of obstetric and neonatal outcomes of twin pregnancies conceived by assisted reproduction technology (ART) with those of spontaneously conceived (SC). Materials and Methods: In this prospective cohort study, all dichorionic twin pregnancies following fresh IVF/ intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) or ICSI cycles (n=320) and (SC) (n=170) in nulliparous women in Royan I...

Dietary Patterns and The Outcomes of Assisted Reproductive Techniques in Women with Primary Infertility: A Prospective Cohort Study

Objective Infertility is one of the most common challenges that women of reproductive age would encounter today. The maternal nutritional status is a particularly important determinant of oocyte quality and embryonic growth. Studies on whether the overall diet can affect reproductive outcomes in infertile women are few. So this study was conducted to assess the relationship between dietary patt...

Perinatal Outcomes of Newborn Infants Conceived by Assisted Reproductive Techniques in Royan Institute

Background The outcomes of such pregnancies have been rarely evaluated in our country. A descriptive study was planned to assess the health and condition of neonates conceived with assisted techniques in a one year period. MaterialsAndMethods At Royan Institute, Tehran, 443 women who became pregnant by one of the assisted techniques in vitro fertilization (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI) ...

Discontinuation Decision in Assisted Reproductive Techniques

Background In vitro fertilization (IVF) and intra cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) are recognized as established and increasingly successful forms of treatment for infertility, yet significant numbers of couples discontinue treatment without achieving a live birth. This study aims to identify major factors that influence the decision to discontinue IVF/ICSI treatments. MaterialsAndMethods We ...

Familial hypothalamic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.

Clinical findings and endocrine studies are reported concerning six subjects (from two pedigrees) suffering from isolated hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. Their complete lack of any gonadotropin response to clomiphene stimulation, together with positive responses of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) to LH-releasing-hormone stimulation (LH-RH) provide evidence for a h...
